Course Description

The University offers Postgraduate programme MSc. in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering.The duration of programme is two years.Petroleum and natural gas engineering involve the application of earth sciences and physical sciences to the evaluation and exploitation of natural hydrocarbon resources.  In the practical field, the development of reservoirs under increasingly adverse conditions poses new engineering problems. This requires skilled engineers capable of producing engineered solutions to current problems.

Eligibility

·         Applicants  for  the  Master's  degree  must  hold  the  Bachelor  of  Science (B.Sc.) degree  from  King  Saud  University or  an  equivalent  degree   from another accredited university with the minimum grade of "Very Good".

·         It is possible to accept students holding Bachelor of Science degree in other engineering branches.   In this case, the department may require additional courses which applicants must   take and pass their exams with a minimum grade of "Very Good".

Syllabus

The M.Sc. degree program in Petroleum Engineering contains the following three areas of specialization:

·         Petroleum Reservoir Engineering.

·         Petroleum Production Engineering.

·         Oil well Drilling   Engineering.

King Saud University is Saudi Arabia's oldest and most prestigious[citation needed] university, located in the capital Riyadh. The university was founded by King Saud in 1957 as Riyadh University. The first university not dedicated to religious subjects, it was renamed King Saud University in 1982.

It was created to meet Saudi Arabia's shortage of skilled workers. Today the school has over 70,000 students including females. The school's current main campus was designed by HOK Architects, headquartered in St.Louis, Missouri. Mechanical and Electrical systems were designed by Syska Hennessy Group, Inc. New York City, New York.

Infrastructure / Teaching Facilities

Library :

·         King Saud University has a total of eighteen libraries, make up the main nerve of the academic and learning disciplines of the university.

·         At the time of its transition into its current location, the university added the collections of nine of its libraries to the main library, forming thereby the central library.

·         Renamed later Prince Salman’s Central library, it now enjoys seven branch libraries. Ideally housed in its seven floor building, with an area of 51400 square meters and more than 4000 reading seats, the central library occupies a central location among colleges and facilities, providing students, faculties, employees and other members of the community easy access to its location and holdings.

·         Its collections include books, periodicals, manuscripts, government publications, academic theses, dissertations, press clippings, audio-visual and electronic media
