    Job Summary:
    This position is located in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA), Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES), Munitions Control Division (MCD). The incumbent applies extensive knowledge of materials, mechanical, or electronics engineering in general, as well as expert knowledge in his/her subject matter area to provide advice and guidance in processing export license applications, according to internal licensing guidance, Export Administration Regulations and foreign policy interests, specific to items transferred from the US Munitions List to the Commerce Control List. Incumbent is also responsible for resolving technical and policy problems, developing new techniques and approaches, and settling controversy. The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Export Administration (EA) regulates exports and reexports through a licensing system set forth in the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). United States national security and foreign policy interests are safeguarded through EA's administration of export control laws relating to dual-use items. At the same time, EA seeks to reduce the regulatory burdens impeding international marketing which will aid in the economic growth of the United States. EA also has a leadership role in a range of high priority programs that involve international competitiveness. The Office of Strategic Industries and Economic Security (SIES) supports U.S. national security through its interagency and international activities related to strategic industries and economic security. SIES responsibilities will extend to policy actions, export licenses, commodity classifications, license determinations, and advisory opinions for items currently controlled on the US Munitions List (USML) that will be transferred to the Commerce Control List (CCL) as part of the Administration's Export Control Reform initiative.
